French and Grace. Fuck. Yes.

French and Grace located in Brixton Village is a bit of a mixed bag of middle eastern and british ideas. Flatbread wraps, salads, coffee, brownies, bloody marys.. and i fucking loved it.

I went for the special on the menu which was harissa baked beans with feta, fried egg and i added chorizo which was totally necessary. It came with a perfect amount of toast and really was all very lovely, the egg was runny, the chorizo was incredible and not chewy as it can be, beans were great but it could have done with a little more feta. I will now always put harissa in my home made baked beans as it's fucking awesome.

I had a soy flat white that was a little too frothy and not very pretty too look at but was incredibly good quality coffee (Volcano coffee), i also had a harissa bloody mary that came complete with a little pepper and fantastic. I think i had a bit of a spicy/tomato/harissa overload with everything i had but it was awesome none the less. I reckon this place will become a favourite of mine and can't wait to go back, can't believe i only just found out about it!

Go there. Now.

Everyone likes a rating of 5 for food hygiene.

A little frothy for a flat white and the appearance was left to be desired, but the coffee is fantastic so who cares.

Drinks.

Special: Harissa baked beans w/ feta, fried egg and added chorizo.

Amazing. Only complaint (which is me being picky) is that it could have had more feta.

Burgers at The Ship Wandsworth

The Ship in Wandsworth does have a great name for itself as a restaurant and pub. I've had dinner there before around christmas time and it was really amazing, little salty at times but all round very good.

I've read a lot about about their burgers so a friend and i thought we'd come down for lunch. We opted to sit outside, which to be honest kinda sucks as the view and the surrounding area is quite the opposite of the word chic.

So the routine when you're sitting outside (maybe inside too during the day) is that you receive a text when your foods ready and you go pick it up yourself. My pal had a pulled pork bun, first of all he was impressed by the amount of pulled pork and also how juicy and soft the meat was although he wasn't sure about whatever sauce was used. In his words "I think everythings nice" so we cant really trust him, but it looked alright.  As for the burger, i've seen a certain burger blogger give it 4 out of 5 stars, so i was thinking.. fuck yeah! this'll be awesome. Unfortunately not, fries were over salted and i couldn't finish them, the bun was quite dry but mainly on one side, there wasn't enough sauce, the bottom of the bun was insanely greasy as if it has been placed in a puddle of grease on a board, the meat around the edge was dry, the burger slightly over cooked and personally i just don't think raw onion belongs in a burger, i find it overpowering and unsuitable for a burger, as for the cheese it was insanely rich and gave the impression of some processed hell slice you'd find stuck to the back of your fridge on a drunken 4am fridge hunt. Both were about £12 with fries and honestly not really worth it, this place is in a bit of a shit location so unless you live local i'd avoid lunch and stick to dinner.

Want a better burger where you don't need to travel too far then go to Byron, want a great pub dinner around Wandsworth then go to The Ship.

Idiot

Absolute fuckeries will take place here i can imagine. Beautiful.

Pulled pork with red onion. Fairly large amount of pork.

Cheese burger with pickled cucumber and really fucking salty fries. (couldn't even finish them)

Pickled cucumbers seemed a little old and not very fresh.

Rad.

Birdhouse cafe - St John's Hill.

Birdhouse on St Johns Hill in Clapham junction is pretty cute. Brunchy menu items with a selections of bocaditos (Cuban sandwiches). I went for the pulled pork beans on toast and added a slow cooked egg as a side. The process of a slow cooked egg is quite long from what i know, its cooked in the shell on a low eat in a water bath so that the egg is cooked evenly and it's then cracked which leave's what looks like a shitty poached egg with uncooked whites. It's actually really lovely, all evenly cooked and incredibly smooth when popped. The beans looked really dry but they actually weren't at all and there was a butt load of pulled pork running all through it, my only issue was the lack of seasoning and the quality of the bread. Possibly the edition of crushed crackling for texture and saltiness and maybe a thick piece of really great quality sourdough would have made this breakfast perfect. Ignoring that, it was all very nice! I enjoyed this with a soy flat white. (coffee = www.climpsonandsons.com).

I liked the decor, the staff seemed cool, it had a relaxed vibe, it's cheap, the coffee's good & they have wifi. Check it out.

Ok.

Cute.

If you were to post it on instagram, it might look like this.

She undercharged me, awk. (That's not cocaine)

You should probably go, it's better than Ben's Canteen.
